Meet Alison

Alison Crawford is a trusted strategist and advisor. Her commitment to clarity and common sense sets her apart in the industry. When crises loom, she and her associates bring composure and solutions.

A veteran on both sides of the camera, Alison prepares clients for successful interactions with news media, politicians and people at public events. She understands how journalists work, and what they want to know.

Prior to launching Good Yarn, Alison served as a senior strategic communication advisor to Canada’s Chief Justice at the Supreme Court of Canada. Before then, she was Director of Communications and Public affairs at the Royal Canadian Mint.

From 1996-2018, Alison was a broadcast journalist for CBC News in New Brunswick, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. Her last 12 years of broadcast journalism were spent on Parliament Hill as a Senior National Reporter. Alison’s work earned recognition from the New York Festivals, Canadian Association of Journalists, Radio Television Digital News Association, Journalists for Human Rights and the Academy for Canadian Film and Television.

Alison is a cheerleader for a free press, institutional transparency, independent judiciary and accountability. When not working with her clients and associates, she volunteers as an Ottawa Public Library Board Trustee, member of the Manor Park Chronicle advisory board, and can often be found knitting with a good yarn.
