Journalism Upholds Public Trust

Changes in the newsgathering industry are eroding Canadians’ confidence in their public institutions. Fewer reporters cover specialized beats such as city hall, the courts, the armed forces and education. That’s bad for democracy. Institutions can bridge that gap by becoming more transparent with reporters and the public.
